In a vibrant and heartfelt ceremony at the Bangladesh Embassy in Manila, the 104th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was commemorated alongside National Children’s Day 2024. This special day was marked with joyous festivities and cultural events, bringing together Bangladeshi and Filipino youths to celebrate in unity.
The festivities kicked off with Ambassador FM Borhan Uddin raising the national flag, setting the tone for a day filled with cultural appreciation and educational activities. A collaborative effort with the Brilliant Junior Academy School saw the organization of a drawing competition and a cultural program aimed at introducing the Filipino youth to the inspiring life and ideals of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The event saw enthusiastic participation from over fifty students, their guardians, and school teachers, all coming together to honor Bangabandhu’s legacy.
The afternoon brought a separate event specifically for Bangladeshi children, held within the embassy’s grounds. The ambassador led the attendees in paying homage to Bangabandhu, followed by the reading of messages from Bangladesh’s top leadership and the screening of a documentary dedicated to the life of the revered leader.
Ambassador Uddin, in his address, expressed deep respect for Bangabandhu and recounted his profound love and dedication towards children. He highlighted Bangabandhu’s compassionate actions and his unwavering commitment to the welfare of all, particularly the underprivileged. Emphasizing the importance of following in Bangabandhu’s footsteps, the ambassador encouraged the young attendees to aspire to the values and virtues exemplified by the Father of the Nation.
The celebration concluded on a high note, with the distribution of awards and certificates to the participants of the drawing contest, shared moments of joy as a community cake was cut, and a gathering for prayer and iftar, wrapping up a day filled with remembrance, education, and cultural exchange.
