Anticipated Weather Changes The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecasted a significant drop in temperatures due to expected rain and thundershowers across various parts of the country, including Dhaka, beginning May 2. Abdul Kalam Mollik, a BMD meteorologist, confirmed that weather disturbances such as rains and thundershowers will affect regions like Chattogram, Sylhet, and Mymensingh, along with the Dhaka division.

Current Heatwave Conditions The country is currently experiencing intense heatwaves, with “very severe” conditions reported in the Jashore and Rajshahi districts. Additionally, a severe heatwave is impacting several areas within the Khulna division and other districts, including Tangail and Faridpur. Milder heatwaves are affecting places like Barishal division and parts of Dhaka, among others.

Detailed Weather Forecast The BMD also noted that some areas, particularly in the Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, might experience gusty winds and even hails in isolated places alongside the rain or thundershowers. While some parts of the country will see mainly dry conditions with partly cloudy skies, day temperatures are expected to rise slightly, and night temperatures will likely remain stable. Moisture increase could continue to cause discomfort.

Recent Temperature and Rainfall Records Jashore district recorded the country’s highest temperature yesterday at 42.2 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Sunamganj reported 18 mm of rainfall until early this morning.
