Due to the death of two students of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) in Buschapa, the administration announced the closure of the CHUTE campus for an indefinite period in the face of student agitation. Besides, the students have been instructed to leave the hall.

On Thursday (April 25) afternoon, the University Registrar (Additional Duty) Prof. Dr. The matter was informed in a circular signed by Sheikh Mohammad Humayun Kabir.

According to the notification, it is hereby informed for the information of all concerned that due to the untimely death of two talented students of the university in a tragic road accident on 22 April, all academic activities of the university have been suspended for an indefinite period by the decision of the 151st (Emergency) meeting of the Academic Council held on 25 April under the chairmanship of the Vice-Chancellor. (including examination) has been declared closed.

The notification also said that male students have been instructed to leave the hall by 5 pm on Thursday and female students by 9 am on Friday. University buses will run from the campus to the city to facilitate the students to leave the campus.

Meanwhile, the protesting students have expressed their anger at such a decision of the university. At that time, they also set fire to a bus on Chittagong-Kaptai road.

A Chuet student, on condition of anonymity, told Dhaka Post that this decision was taken to suppress the students. No one will leave the hall to stop the movement, everyone will stay in the campus.

Before this, two students of Chuet were killed and one was injured after being hit by a bus on the Chittagong-Kaptai road of Rangunia upazila at around 4 pm last Monday (April 22).

The deceased are Shanto Saha, a student of the 20th batch of Civil Engineering Department of Chuet and Taufik Hossain, a student of the 21st batch of the same department. Zakaria Himu, who was injured in the incident, is a student of the 21st batch of civil engineering department. He is currently undergoing treatment at Evercare private hospital in Chittagong.

In this incident, the students are protesting for the fourth consecutive day to get 10 points of demand. They are holding a day-long program by blocking the Chittagong-Kaptai road with trees and barricades.
