The world’s largest Starbucks, the Reserve Roastery on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile, offers a unique culinary experience. This upscale coffeehouse features a special menu of food and drinks, exclusive merchandise, and a stunning rooftop terrace.

A Unique Culinary Experience

Spanning four floors, each dedicated to different delights, the Reserve Roastery provides an array of artisanal food options. At the Princi café and bakery on the second floor, diners can enjoy items like avocado toast, tiramisù, tea, and the Strawberry Balsamic Spritz. A typical meal, including these items, totals around $43 after tax and tips.

Avocado Toast and More

The avocado toast, topped with cherry tomatoes, arugula, and herbs, is both delicious and visually appealing. However, the portion size might seem small for its $9 price tag. Meals are served on wooden trays with disposable cutlery, which contrasts with the upscale atmosphere.

Tea and Dessert

The tea selection includes the Golden Monkey black tea, served with steamed oat milk, which may not appeal to those accustomed to a robust English Breakfast tea. Desserts, particularly the tiramisù, are popular choices. Although the tiramisù has a creamy mascarpone filling, its cake layers can be somewhat dry and lack strong flavors.

Refreshing Beverages

Exclusive to Reserve locations, the Strawberry Balsamic Spritz is a refreshing drink made with sparkling water, muddled strawberry, and balsamic vinegar. Priced at $7, the drink offers a pleasant strawberry flavor, though the balsamic vinegar is barely detectable.

A Pricey Delight

The rooftop terrace provides breathtaking views of Chicago’s skyline, adding to the unique experience. However, the overall cost of a meal at the Reserve Roastery is quite high. For $43, one could enjoy a hearty deep-dish pizza meal for two at a nearby local favorite. While the Roastery offers a distinctive setting and exclusive items, the value for money remains a consideration for potential diners.
