Bangladesh’s ODI series against Australia starting on Thursday can be called ‘historic’. Australia’s women’s team has come to Bangladesh to play in the World Cup before, but this is the first time they have set foot in Bangladesh to play a bilateral series. A full-strength women’s team visiting Bangladesh, where the Australian men’s team has only toured a handful of times, is something special.
Tomorrow (Thursday) this much awaited series will take place on the field. Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana Jyoti’s voice is convincing before the fight on the field. The year 2023 has been great for the girls of Bangladesh. Success stories like a series draw against India at home, defeating Pakistan or a historic series win in South Africa have given Jyoti a lot of confidence.
In Jyoti’s words, ‘We have been playing in South Africa and our batting has felt much stronger. Again, when I played against India and Pakistan at home, I felt that the bowling was strong. It’s a good thing for our team as both divisions are in much better shape. What matters now is which unit can contribute more to the team tomorrow.
