Mauli Majumdar, best known for her emotional vocals in the hit song Thambe Na Bhalobasha, has stepped into a new spotlight—acting. After gaining recognition for her modern songs and especially for singing in popular television dramas, she has now made her debut as an actress in Shunyer Songsar, directed by Selim Reza and written by Sayem Khan.
Singing Star to TV Actress
Mauli joined the cast during filming at the Dolonchapa shooting house in Uttara on April 7. The drama’s song Tomay Dilam Dana, already released on YouTube, features her voice alongside Rafat’s. The lyrics were penned by Atiur Rahman, with music and composition by Shahriar Rafat.
She stars alongside respected actress Monira Mithu and the fan-favorite duo Niloy and Brishti—an opportunity that has left her thrilled. Speaking about her experience, Mauli said she took on the role for fun but was encouraged by the producer and director, with whom she has a long-standing musical collaboration.
A Comfortable Transition
“Since I’ve sung for many of their dramas, we’ve built a strong working relationship,” Mauli shared. “They helped me feel at ease, and I approached the character naturally. I believe the expressions flowed in line with the role.”
While she remains dedicated to music, Mauli’s fans are excited to see this new side of her talent—and Shunyer Songsar marks just the beginning.
