Heavy rains and short-term flood predicted in June

The Bangladesh Meteorology Department has predicted that heavy rains may occur across the country in this June. Due to this, the organization has feared that short-term floods may occur in some parts of the northern, northeastern and southeastern parts of the country.

On Sunday (June 2), the expert committee of the Meteorological Department forecast it.

Apart from this, there may be normal rainfall in the country as a whole. However, there may be one or two light pressures may occur in this month. One of which may develop into a monsoon depression. Apart from this, light to moderate thunderstorms may occur in the country for four to six days this month.

According to the forecast, in the first half of the first week of this month, southwest monsoon (monsoon) will prevail over the country and one to two low pressures may develop, one of which may develop into a monsoon depression. Also, one to two isolated mild (36-38°C) to moderate (38-40°C) heatwaves may occur. Day and night temperatures may be slightly above normal throughout the month.

The country received more than normal rains throughout the month of May. 35.9 percent less rainfall occured than normal in Mymensingh division. Rajshahi received the least amount of rain for 9 days. Dhaka received 8.6 percent more rainfall than normal. In this month too, Sylhet, Chattogram and Dhaka may receive more than normal rainfall.
