Environment Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury said, we will be fine if the mountains including the Himalayas are normal. Preserving these mountains is essential for our survival.
He said these things at a photography exhibition titled ‘Mountain Memories: Connecting Pics and People’ organized by the Nepal Embassy at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy’s Jatiya Chitrashala Auditorium on Friday (May 31) night.
Saber Hossain Chowdhury said, we will be fine if the mountains and the Himalayas are normal. Preserving these mountains is essential for our survival. Climate change poses significant threats to mountains, glaciers and ecosystems. Melting glaciers affect biodiversity and the livelihoods of millions of people who depend on water. It calls for global cooperation and collective efforts against climate change.
The minister said, the images of talented photographers remind us of the profound influence nature has on our lives and inspire us to nurture and protect that environment.
He said mountains unite us across borders with Nepal and other nations in our commitment to environmental sustainability and climate stability.
Appreciating the work of the photographers, the Minister said, “Your work not only delights and inspires us, but also plays an important role in raising awareness about the importance of preserving our natural heritage.”
Meanwhile, Ambassador of Nepal Ghanshyam Bhandari said that Bangladeshi citizens will continue their cooperation in protecting the biodiversity of the country along with maximum cooperation in Everest expedition.
In the ceremony Babar Ali, the new Everest winner as a Bangladeshi, and his team were awarded. Later, the guests visited the photo exhibition.
