This year’s Met Gala theme draws inspiration from J.G. Ballard’s narrative, emphasizing the elements of Land, Sea, and Sky. The theme aligns with the spring 2024 exhibit, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” which celebrates the fleeting beauty of fashion akin to nature’s transient wonders.
The Met Gala’s carpet this year resembled a lush garden, setting a verdant stage for the night’s fashion statements.
Jennie from BLACKPINK graced the Met Gala in a striking blue gown by Pieter Mulier, a creation that required over 200 hours and 13 meters of crepe Georgette. The dress featured an asymmetric drape, a cut-out at the waist, and a dramatic train with a ruffled accent, reminiscent of recent Alaïa styles.
Complementing her gown, Jennie wore a subtle pearl waist chain and matching large earrings. Her strappy heels echoed the oceanic theme, enhancing her ensemble’s sea-inspired allure.
In 2023, Jennie marked her Met Gala debut in a striking vintage Chanel dress from the autumn/winter 1990 collection, famously curated by Karl Lagerfeld. Embracing her preference for shorter lengths, Jennie wore a satin bustier minidress, elegantly accented with a white camellia and a ribbon at the bodice. A matching camellia adorned her hair, seamlessly integrating Chanel’s timeless elegance with Jennie’s modern style. This outfit not only celebrated Lagerfeld’s legacy but also showcased Jennie’s distinctive flair on fashion’s biggest night
