Pop sensation Lana Del Rey has reportedly tied the knot with Jeremy Dufrene, a Louisiana-based alligator tour guide. After weeks of speculation, the couple is said to have wed in a quiet ceremony held in the bayou where Mr. Dufrene operates his swamp tours.
A Bayou Wedding for the Pop Star
The couple applied for a marriage license in Lafourche Parish, south of New Orleans, earlier this week. The documents, obtained by the BBC, show that Del Rey, using her legal name Elizabeth Woodridge Grant, and Mr. Dufrene, had a month to finalize their marriage. However, reports suggest they chose to marry just days later, on Thursday, in Des Allemands, Louisiana, where Mr. Dufrene works as a tour operator.
Romance Rooted in the Bayou
According to People magazine, the wedding and reception took place in the same bayou where Mr. Dufrene runs his tours. The couple first met in 2019 when Del Rey took one of his tours, joking about captaining one of his airboats on social media.
A Private Love in the Spotlight
Del Rey, who rose to international fame in 2011 with her debut album and hit single “Video Games,” has maintained a glamorous yet mysterious persona throughout her career. While she hasn’t publicly commented on the marriage, the couple was recently seen together at the Reading and Leeds festivals, as well as in London.
Mr. Dufrene left his chemical plant job to pursue his true calling as an airboat tour guide, a career his family encouraged him to pursue.
