Masks cannot be worn and bags cannot be carried in the Dhaka University (DU) campus on the first day of Baisakh. However, the masks prepared by the Faculty of Fine Arts can be displayed by hand.
Besides, no vehicles are allowed inside the campus and motorcycles are strictly prohibited.
Such instructions have been given through a press release sent by the public relations office of the university.
Keeping in mind the motto ‘Amra to Timirbinashi’, this year the first Baisakhi Mangal Shobhayatra will be taken out in front of the Fine Arts Faculty of the University on Sunday (April 14) at 9 am. The procession will take a turn from in front of Shishu Park via Shahbagh intersection and end at the Student-Teacher Center (TSC) via Shahbagh.
According to the guidelines, no mask can be worn and bags cannot be carried in the university campus on the first day of Baisakh. However, masks prepared by the Faculty of Fine Arts can be exhibited by hand. The playing and selling of vuvuzela flutes on university campuses has been asked to refrain. Apart from this, all activities on New Year’s Day in the campus must be completed by 5 pm. On New Year’s Day, the campus will be open till 5 pm. No entry after 5pm, only exit.
