A passenger bus caught fire after a motorcycle’s oil tank exploded in the capital’s Banani. Quoting eyewitnesses, fire officials said that the fire may have started due to the explosion of the motorcycle’s tank.
Atiqur Rahman, senior station officer of Kurmitola fire station, said that a passenger bus from Mymensingh was heading towards Mohakhali bus terminal at around 4 pm. While taking a U-turn in front of the Naval Headquarters, a motorcycle skidded under the bus .
He said, “The bus pulled the motorcycle some distance. It is believed that the tank of the motorcycle below exploded and the bus caught fire.
On receiving information, two fire service units went to the spot and brought the fire under control at 4:37 pm. Two riders of the motorcycle were injured in the incident. They are undergoing treatment at the nearby Kurmitola General Hospital.
He also said that there were very few passengers in the bus. Due to this, it is said that no passenger of the bus was injured.
