On the occasion of the Great Independence Day and National Day, President Md. Sahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid their respects to the martyrs of the Great Liberation War by laying wreaths at the Savar National Memorial. At this time, King Jigme Khesar Namgel Wangchuck of Bhutan also paid deep respect to the martyrs.
They laid wreaths at the memorial altar at 5:56 am on Tuesday (March 26).
First, the President and the King of Bhutan laid wreaths at the altar of the National Memorial. Later, the Prime Minister laid a wreath. After that, the President and the Prime Minister stood there silently for a while, paying deep respect to the memory of the martyrs of the Great Liberation War of 1971.
A smart team of Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Force gave the national salute on this occasion. At this time, the bugle sounded a sad tune. Sheikh Hasina later, as president of Awami League, paid her respects by laying wreaths at the altar of the National Memorial once again with the party leaders.

Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader and other central leaders were present at this time.
After paying tribute, the King of Bhutan and his wife, the President and the Prime Minister signed the visitor’s book at the memorial.
