To achieve the desired goal of independence, the President urged to ensure people-oriented and sustainable development, good governance, social justice, transparency and accountability. Sahabuddin.

He made this call in a message given on Monday on the occasion of Great Independence and National Day. On the occasion of the day, the President extended his best wishes and warm greetings to all Bangladeshis living in the country and abroad.

The President said that tolerance, human rights and rule of law should be consolidated to institutionalize democracy. It is our sacred duty to build a safe, happy, beautiful and prosperous Bangladesh for the new generation. On this day, I remember with utmost respect Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the great architect of independent Bangladesh, the greatest Bengali father of all time. On the night of 25th March 1971, the Pakistani invasion forces launched a surprise attack on the unarmed Bengalis. In the early hours of March 26, Bangabandhu officially declared the independence of Bangladesh. We achieved independent-sovereign Bangladesh through a long nine-month armed liberation war under the leadership of Bangabandhu. I reverently remember the brave martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the great liberation war, whose supreme sacrifice we got freedom. I gratefully remember the four national leaders, brave freedom fighters, organizers and supporters of the liberation war, foreign friends and people from all walks of life, who have contributed in various ways to our rights and freedom struggle.
He said, Bangabandhu always dreamed of building a happy and prosperous country along with political freedom. The current government is making relentless efforts to realize that dream. Under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh is advancing at breakneck speed on the highway of development. Bangladesh has achieved incredible success in various areas of socio-economic development including poverty alleviation, education, health, human resource development, women’s empowerment, reduction of infant and maternal mortality, elimination of gender disparity, increase in average life expectancy. Per capita income has increased along with reduction in poverty rate. A large landless and homeless population of the country is being rehabilitated.
He also said that self-financed Padma Setu, Karnaphuli Tunnel and Metrorail are contributing positively to the country’s economy. Work on Payra Deep Sea Port, Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport’s third terminal and Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant are also progressing uninterruptedly. Bangladesh has already been promoted from a least developed country to a developing country. If this progress of sustainable development continues, within 2041, Bangladesh will stand tall as a developed-rich-smart country in the world.
