Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim died in a hospital in the capital (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Raziun). Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina mourned his death.
He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital on Sunday (March 10) night.
BSMMU Vice-Chancellor Dr. Md. Sharfuddin Ahmed said, he died at 8 pm today. For the past one and a half months, he was admitted to Evercare Hospital with various problems related to old age including breathing problem, heart disease, high blood pressure. He was brought to BSMMU last week.
Meanwhile, a message sent from the Prime Minister’s Press Wing said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim.
Since 2015, Ihsanul Karim was working as the press secretary of the Prime Minister in the rank of secretary. On June 19, 2022, he was appointed on a new contractual basis for two years.
Ihsanul Karim also served as President’s Press Secretary and Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of Bangladesh News Agency (BASS).
