The 163rd birth anniversary of universal poet Rabindranath Tagore was celebrated at the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi. On Monday (May 13) Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi celebrated the birth anniversary of Biswakabir with various events.
High Commissioner at the beginning of the program. Mostafizur Rahman welcomed the guests. He said, poet Rabindranath Tagore was a versatile talent. Who has played an important role in literature, art, music, education, culture and social reform.
He highlighted Rabindranath’s strong writings against colonialism, bigotry and various injustices in the society and recalled Rabindranath’s contribution in establishing an inclusive and communist society. He also expressed his gratitude to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for adopting Kabiguru’s song ‘Amar Sonar Bangla’ as the national anthem of Bangladesh.
Traditional music artist Rezwana Chowdhury Banya Rabindra sang music on the occasion. The audience was mesmerized by his lively musical performance. Banya recently received the Padma Shri from the Government of India.
Delicious Bangladeshi food was served at the end of the musical evening. The event was attended by high level officials of the host country, civil society representatives, journalists and a large number of Bengalis.
