Rain is falling in several areas of the capital due to the impact of Cyclone Remal in the Bay of Bengal. Rain was reported in Badda, Bhatara, Baridhara, Gulshan-2, Banani and Shyamoli areas after 8 pm on Saturday (May 25) and thundershowers in various surrounding areas. Besides, wind is blowing with gusty wind in different areas.
The forecast for the next 24 hours from 9 am today by the Meteorological Department mentioned the possibility of rain. Not only Dhaka, but in most parts of Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong Divisions and in many parts of Mymensingh and Sylhet Divisions, light to moderate rains and thundershowers with gusty winds are predicted temporarily. Also, moderate to very heavy rains may occur at some places in the south.
During this time, day temperatures may remain almost unchanged across the country and night temperatures may drop by 1-2 degrees Celsius. However, discomfort may persist due to excess water vapor.
However, it has been informed that the mild to moderate heat wave that is flowing over Dhaka, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions may continue till 9 am tomorrow (Sunday).
