Russia has launched deadly missile and drone attacks targeting power infrastructure in five regions of Ukraine.
According to Al Jazeera, officials of Ukraine, the power plants were heavily damaged by the Russian attack.
Ukraine’s national electricity supplier Ukrainergo said on Saturday (June 1) that power plants in the eastern Donetsk, southeastern Zaporizhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions, as well as the Kirovohrad and Ivano-Frankivsk regions in the center and west of the country, were attacked.
Ukrainergo also reported that Russia launched another round of attacks on Ukraine’s power plants on Saturday morning.
It should be noted that since last March, Moscow has increased missile and drone attacks on power plants in Kiev.
A Ukrainian air force commander claimed that its air defenses shot down 35 of Russia’s 53 missiles and 46 of 47 drones.
Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Saturday that Russia was forced to launch retaliatory strikes with high-tech precision weapons on Ukrainian power plants operated for the military industrial complex.
The Russian Defense Ministry also said the power plants were being used as depots for weapons supplied by Western countries.
