Russia blasted the main children’s hospital in Kyiv with a missile in broad daylight on Monday and rained missiles down on other cities across Ukraine, killing at least 41 civilians in the deadliest wave of air strikes for months.
Parents holding babies walked in the street outside the hospital, dazed and sobbing after the rare daylight aerial attack. Windows had been smashed and panels ripped off, and hundreds of Kyiv residents were helping to clear debris.

China’s Commerce Ministry said on Monday that remarks by a European Union (EU) official, suggesting that China had not sought consultations on electric vehicle (EV) tariffs until recently despite the EU’s attempts to engage for months, were “seriously inconsistent with the facts.”
China has expressed strong opposition on bilateral and multilateral occasions since the EU launched its anti-subsidy probe into Chinese EVs in October 2023, said a spokesperson with the ministry in response to a media inquiry quoting Jorge Toledo Albinana, the EU’s ambassador to China.

Israel says it struck ‘terrorists’ operating from Gaza school

The Israeli army said Monday that it had struck “several terrorists” in central Gaza who were allegedly using a school in the Nuseirat area as “cover”.
“A short while ago, based on intelligence and using precise munition, the IAF struck several terrorists who were conducting terrorist activities, using the structures of a school in the area of Nuseirat as cover,“ the army said in a statement, referring to the Israeli Air Force.
A source at the Al-Awda hospital in Nuseirat told AFP that it had received several wounded people for treatment after an attack against a school run by the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA.
Modi’s two-day trip marks his first visit to Russia since Putin began his full-scale invasion of Ukraine nearly two and a half years ago, with images and video Monday showing the two leaders hugging, chatting over tea, riding in an electric vehicle and watching a horse show.

TOKYO—Having fled Myanmar for Japan with his parents as a child, Shibuya Zarny began his fashion career as a model in Tokyo and went on to make clothes for royalty.
“Fashion is an art that has enabled me to survive,” the designer, whose label recently held a 10-year anniversary show in Bangkok, told AFP.
The runway looks featured nods to Southeast Asian design, from leaf and eye motifs to jewelry worn under colorful jackets by shirtless male models.
Zarny’s parents came to Japan as political refugees in 1993 when he was 8. As a teenager, dressing with style became a way for him to avoid being bullied.
