It has been decided to set up 22 bazaars in the capital, including two permanent bazaars for the sale and purchase of sacrificial animals on the holy Eid-ul-Azha.
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) will set up 9 temporary huts in addition to the use of permanent huts at Gabtali. On the other hand, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) is planning to set up 11 temporary haats in addition to the permanent market in Sarulia.
DNCC chief property officer Mohammad Mahe Alam said that lease notices have been given initially for setting up 9 huts. The authority reserves the right to cancel or add more huts if necessary. He also mentioned efforts to increase online sale of livestock through online platforms and payment through ATM booths.
Chief executive officer of DSCC confirmed the lease of 11 huts and the official price determination. Mizanur Rahman said that the authorities have the power to coordinate if necessary.
The suggested locations for haats under DNCC are-
>> Open space adjacent to Dhaka Polytechnic Institute, Kanchkura Biparipara Rahman Nagar Residential Project area of Ward No. 44 and Mastul Checkpost of Ward No. 43 of Khilkhet.
>> Open space near Sutivola Canal in Vatara, Kaola Sealdanga of Uttara Sector 16 & 18, Boubazar area and Badda Eastern Housing (Aftabnagar) Block E, F, G, H, L, M, N.
Besides, haats will also be set up in Mirpur Section-6 (Eastern Housing Open Space) and 40 feet roadside open space in Basila, Mohammadpur.
DSCC places where the market is going to sit-
>> Open space near Jatrabari Daniya College, Dholaikhal Truck Terminal, Badda Eastern Housing (Aftabnagar) Block E, F, G, H and Section 1 & 2.
>> Amulia Model Town, Rahmatganj Club, Shyampur Kadmatoli Truckstand, North Shahjahanpur Khilgaon Railgate Bazar, Institute Leather Technology College, Postgola Open Ground, Meradia Bazar and Kamalapur Stadium Adjacent Places.
The hut will also sit in an area next to Little Friends Club near Biswa Road.
