Legendary Rabindra Sangeet artist Sadi Mohammed has passed away. His funeral was held today Thursday (March 14) at Bad Johor Mohammadpur Central Jame Masjid. He was then buried at Mohammadpur Central Jame Masjid Graveyard.
Many well-known people and media personalities from the cultural arena including Prime Minister’s Advisor on Education and Culture Kamal Abdul Nasser Chowdhury, Musician Khurshid Alam, Actor Khairul Alam Sabuj, Rezwana Chowdhury Bonya, Gausul Alam Shaon, Kabir Bakul, Anima Roy were present to see him for the last time during the funeral.
The body of Sadi Mohammed was found hanging from his house on Mohammadpur Tajmahal Road around 8 pm on Wednesday. He was 69 years old at the time of his death.
On July 8 last year, Sadi Mohammed’s mother Zebunnesha Salimullah (96) died of old age. The artist went into a trauma after the death of his mother. He was not mentally normal. It is believed that he could not bear the pain of losing his mother.
Sadi received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Rabindra Sangeet from Visva Bharati University. His father Salimullah was killed by anti-independence forces in 1971. Salimullah Road in Mohammadpur, Dhaka is named after his father.
