Samsung Revamps Leadership with Tech Experts to Drive Growth

Samsung Electronics has announced the promotion of 137 executives as part of its year-end reshuffle aimed at overcoming stagnation and reviving growth. The reshuffle prioritizes tech-savvy leaders, younger executives, and specialists with a proven track record in innovation to address challenges in domestic and global markets.

A Focus on Technology and Youthful Leadership

The reshuffle includes 35 new vice presidents and 92 managing directors. Among the notable promotions is Park Jung-ho, a communications expert instrumental in 5G technology development, who has been elevated to vice president. Other key figures include Ha Ji-hoon, the youngest executive at 39, specializing in next-generation communication software platforms, and Lee Gui-ho, who has driven growth in visual display advertising.

Strengthening Diversity and Inclusivity

Samsung emphasized inclusivity by promoting eight women and one foreign executive. Seo Jung-ah, head of the digital commerce team, was promoted for her role in boosting sales through data-driven strategies. Sitthichoke Nopchinabutr, a Thai sales leader, also earned a promotion for his contributions to mobile device sales in Southeast Asia.

Addressing Core Challenges

The leadership overhaul comes as Samsung grapples with challenges in its chipmaking division and strives to capitalize on the  AI boom. The company’s focus on nurturing talent and promoting diversity reflects its commitment to staying competitive in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
