Bangladesh lost the Kanpur Test mainly due to the failure of the batsmen. If they had batted in a test mood in this match, then the visitors could have at least drawn. Although the bowlers wanted to prove their ability, Bangladesh could not match the disappointing performance of the other side.
The bowlers’ efforts have also been recognized in the ICC’s updated bowling rankings. Two spinners Shakib Al Hasan and Mehdi Hasan Miraj have seen improvement in the ranking.
Shakib and Mehdi took 4 wickets each in India’s first innings in Kanpur. Miraj took 2 wickets in the second innings. But Shakib did not get any wicket in the last innings.
In the latest ICC ranking, Mirage has improved by 4 places. The right-arm Tiger spinner has moved up from 22nd position to 18th. On the other hand, Shakib has progressed by 5 steps. The left-arm spinner is at the 28th position.
Besides, Mirage has also improved in the all-rounder category. He is currently in the fifth place two steps ahead. Shakib is third as before.
