Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has written a letter congratulating Narendra Modi on the victory of the BJP-led NDA alliance in India’s 18th Lok Sabha elections.
He conveyed this greeting in a letter sent to Narendra Modi on Wednesday (June 5) afternoon.
Sheikh Hasina wrote in the congratulatory message. On behalf of the people of Bangladesh and myself, hearty congratulations to you on the absolute victory of the BJP-led NDA alliance.
He also wrote, “I firmly believe that our friendly and close relations will continue in all respects.” I assure that as a trusted friend of India, Bangladesh will work together for the betterment of the people of both countries for a prosperous and peaceful future.
I wish to extend my best wishes for continued peace, progress and prosperity to the people of India.
I look forward to working closely with you in the coming days, he wrote.
The Election Commission announced the results saying that 272 seats are required to form the government in India. There, BJP single-handedly won 240 seats. And the alliance led by them NDA won 293 seats.
On the other hand, this Lok Sabha election is the virtual resurgence of Congress in national politics. They got 99 seats. India holds 233 seats. The post of Leader of Opposition requires winning 55 seats in the Lok Sabha. But the Congress, which won 44 seats in 2014 and 52 seats in 2019, did not get that status as per the parliamentary rules. This time Mallikarjun Khadeg, Rahul Gandhi’s party is going to get that status.
Other parties include Samajwadi Party (SP) 37, Trinamool Congress 29, DMK 22, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) 16, Janata Dal (JD-U) 12, Shiv Sena (Udbhav) nine, Nationalist Congress Party (NCSP) eight and Shiv Sena ( SHS) won seven seats. So the official results of this year’s Lok Sabha elections in India are saying that Modi has no choice but to partner.
