Clarification from Soyeon and Cube Entertainment
The controversy grew after the performance, prompting Soyeon to clarify her intentions on Instagram. She explained the lyrics were a joke and affirmed her desire to stay with the group. Cube Entertainment supported her, stating the lyrics were rehearsed and part of the performance, but acknowledged concerns about potential misunderstandings.
Soyeon’s Instagram Explanation and Fan Reactions
Despite the clarifications, the issue remained hotly debated. Soyeon posted a detailed explanation to reassure fans of her commitment to the group and to address any negative perceptions about her intentions.
|Soyeon’s Instagram post in English would read:
“My first concern is always how to make people happy. My second concern is how to make my team happier. Sometimes there are moments that seem too provocative, and there are works that do not receive a positive response, but I lie. I do not intentionally try to harm anyone or do anything wrong that would prick my conscience.
This performance also didn’t lie or hide anything from the company. It was a performance that we created together by rehearsing dozens of times in front of everyone.
As we have gone through many things together over the past 10 years, I do not have negative feelings towards the company just by reading articles published in the media. Words, even if slightly misrepresented, can deviate from the intention. However, this is an opportunity to once again feel the insufficiency of our company in any response.
I think it will be possible, and I will also work hard so that we can grow together, so I hope that uncomfortable emotions such as worry and hatred can fade away a little.
I’ll try harder so you don’t have to worry. Never ever. I’m always sorry, thank you, and I love you.”
