The dengue outbreak has taken a deadly turn as two more lives were claimed, and 215 new patients were urgently hospitalized in the last 24 hours, reveals the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). Among the newly affected, 95 were from Dhaka city, while 125 others were admitted to hospitals across the country.
This alarming surge brings the total number of dengue cases this year to a staggering 8,469, with the death toll now reaching 69. However, 195 patients were fortunate enough to be discharged after treatment, adding to the total of 7,574 recoveries so far.
In stark contrast, last year’s dengue season saw a devastating 1,705 deaths and an overwhelming 3,21,179 cases nationwide.
