Taylor Swift has opened up about the emotional impact of canceling her Vienna tour dates due to an attack threat. In an Instagram post, she shared that the situation brought her a “new sense of fear” and a “tremendous amount of guilt” because many fans had made travel plans to attend the shows.

The three Vienna concerts were called off earlier this month after three individuals were arrested for allegedly plotting attacks linked to the Islamic State group. The 34-year-old singer-songwriter concluded the European leg of her Eras Tour with a series of eight performances at Wembley Stadium in London.

Swift expressed her gratitude to the authorities for their role in preventing a potential tragedy, stating, “I was heartened by the love and unity I saw in the fans who banded together.” She emphasized that her priority was the safety of her fans, explaining, “I decided that all of my energy had to go toward helping to protect the nearly half a million people I had coming to see the shows in London.”

She also addressed why she waited to discuss the Vienna cancellations publicly, clarifying, “I am not going to speak about something publicly if I think doing so might provoke those who would want to harm the fans who come to my shows.” Swift’s next concert is scheduled for October 18 in Miami, Florida, as part of her ongoing Eras Tour.
