A shocking incident has happened in the cycling world cup. Swiss teenage cyclist Muriel Furer, who competed in the cycling world championships, has left the country of no return after suffering an accident on Friday.
The 18-year-old cyclist was participating in the women’s junior road race. It was raining then. And that’s the problem. The wheel slipped and he was hit.
Swiss media reported that the crash occurred in a wooded area above Kunsacht near Zurich, west of Lake Zurich. It took a long time to find Muriel.
After finding him from there, he was rushed to the nearest hospital. It is said that he was alive till 10 minutes after the accident.
Cycling’s governing body said in a statement: ‘Muriel Furrer passed away today at the University Hospital in Zurich. The international cycling community has lost a rider who had a bright future ahead of him.’
Furrer had a great year. He won silver in the junior time trial and road race at the Swiss National Championships this time.
