This year, the rate of Fitra for Muslims in Bangladesh has been fixed at a maximum of Tk 2,970 and a minimum of Tk 115 per person. The meeting was chaired by the President of National Fitra Determination Committee and Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Hafez Maulana Mufti Mohammad Ruhul Amin.
The meeting decided that, in Islamic Shariat, Fitra can be paid with any of the products like flour, barley, raisins, dates and cheese. If Fitra is paid with wheat or flour, the market price of 1 kg of 650 grams should be paid at Tk 115. These fitras are fixed on the basis of the market price of flour, barley, dates, raisins and cheese collected from all parts of the country. Muslims can collect Sadaqatul Fitr with any one of those products or its market price according to their ability. Local retail market prices of these products vary. According to that, even if payment is made at the local price, fitrah will be collected.
