Severe heat wave is going on in the country for the last three weeks. Among them, the temperature reached 43.8 degrees in Jessore on April 30. However, due to rainfall in various regions, the temperature has been decreasing for the last two days. In this situation, the maximum temperature of the country has finally dropped below 40 degrees.

According to the Meteorological Office, today the highest temperature in the country was recorded in Rajshahi at 39.7 degrees Celsius. Which was 41.8 degrees Celsius in Jessore on Friday. The maximum temperature recorded in Dhaka today is 36.9 degrees Celsius. Which was 38.1 degrees Celsius yesterday.

The Meteorological Office has said that in the next 24 hours, some places of Sylhet division and one or two places of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Barisal and Chittagong divisions may experience rain or thunder with gusty winds temporarily. Along with that, there may be scattered hailstorms at some places. Elsewhere in the country, the weather will remain mainly dry with partly cloudy sky.

According to the agency, mild to moderate heat waves are flowing over Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna and Barisal divisions and may continue. Day and night temperatures may remain largely unchanged across the country.

Comilla recorded maximum rainfall of 37 mm in the last 24 hours. Apart from this, 27 mm of rainfall has been recorded in Chittagong and 8 mm in Cox’s Bazar.

Meanwhile, in another heat wave notification, the Meteorological Department said that the mild to moderate heat wave running over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barisal divisions may continue for the next 24 hours from 6 pm on May 4. Uncomfortable conditions may persist due to the abundance of water bumps.

A mild heat wave is defined as a maximum temperature of 36 to 37.9 degrees Celsius, a moderate heat wave is 38 to 39.9 degrees Celsius, a severe heat wave is 40 to 41.9 degrees Celsius, and an extreme heat wave is 42 degrees Celsius or more, according to the Meteorological Department.
