Members of the Border Guard Police (BGP) are entering Bangladesh again due to the clash between the army and the rebels inside Myanmar.

A total of 179 members of BGP took refuge in Bangladesh from morning to evening on Monday (March 11).

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) public relations officer. Shariful Islam confirmed the matter to Dhaka Post.

He said that due to the ongoing conflict inside Myanmar, 179 members of Myanmar’s border guard force BGP have taken refuge in Bangladesh through the responsible border area of BGB’s Naikshyongchari Battalion (11 BGB).

Earlier, 330 people, including members of Myanmar’s Border Guard Force (BGP), took refuge in Bangladesh in the face of insurgent attacks last February. Later on February 15, they were returned to Myanmar by ship from Ukhia Inani Navy jetty in Cox’s Bazar.

The rebel alliance Brotherhood Alliance launched a joint attack against the junta forces since October last year. In the face of their attacks, members of the junta have fled from many parts of Rakhine.

Narinjara News, a local media outlet based in Rakhine, said that at any time, the control of the whole of Rakhine will be taken over by the insurgent group Arakan Army.
