Ramisa Anjuml thought I had outgrown my anime phase after finishing “Maid Sama,” but when I saw the trailer for “Dan Da Dar on Netflix, it immediately made it onto my watch list. The vibrant visuals and almost cinematic feel of the trailer caught my eye, and now, every week this October, I find myself eagerly awaiting each new episode. It brings back the nostalgia of waiting a week for a new show, and the story is so entertaining, with characters so different from other series, that I can’t help but cheer them on.
Dan Dan Dan
“Dan Da Dan’ follows the story of two high school students, Momo Ayase and Okarun, who hold vastly different beliefs-Momo is convinced that ghosts are real, while Okarun is obsessed with aliens. Their conflicting views lead then to challenge each other, embarking on a quest to prove the other’s beliefs w wrong The twist? They both end end up being right in the most unexpected way possible. Momo gets abducted by aliens, while Okarun finds himself cursed by a spirit known as Turbo Granny. Momo Ayase: The Fiery Protagonist
I think Momo might be my new favorite female character! At first, Momo Ayase seems e classic tough character with softer side. Her fiery demeanor is a defense like the mechanism, protecting her from vulnerabilities that begin to surface as her relationship with Okarun develops. This blend of strength and tendemess makes Momo a lovable and memorable protagonist.
Okarun: From Nerd to Hero
Okarun starts out as an awkward and somewhat nerdy character a boy whose obsession with aliens makes him an outcast. But after being cursed by Turbo Granny, be quickly evolves. He is forced to adapt, growing stronger and more assertive as he leams to navigate his strange new circumstances. The dynamic between Okarun and Momo is one of the best parts of the show, with both characters constantly supporting each other, whether it’s emotionally or in battle.
Genre-Bending Fun
“Dan Da Dan’ is a true genre-bender. It seamlessly combines horror-with eerie ghosts and grotesque alien designs with comedy that features absurd situations and witty humor. Momo and Okarur’s relationship also incorporates elements of a romantic.

The anime explores belief, skepticism, friendship, and personal growth. Initially, Momo and Okarun are skeptics of each other’s beliefs, but their shared adventures help them realize that their worlds aren’t so different after all The series is ultima ultimately about finding common ground amidst the bizarre, and about learning to trust someone else even when the world seems incomprehensible.
The Visuals: A Feast for the Eyes
Science SARU, the studio behind “Dan Da Dan,” is known for its distinctive animation style, and this anime does not disappoint. The vibrant color palette shifts between bright, playful hues for lighter scenes and dark, intense tones for more suspenseful moments. The fluidity of the animation, especially during action sequences, makes every fight feel grand and immersive.
One of the most striking visual moments is when Okarun transforms under Turbo Granny’s curse. The scene uses greyscale with sudden splashes of red, creating a haunting yet beautiful effect. The art direction excels in its contrasts between the mundane and the supernatural, humor and horror, vivid colors and muted tones-all of which contribute to the visual and thematic richness of the series.
