A housewife named Rita Rani (21) died after being crushed by a soil-carrying tractor on Navaran-Satkhira road in Jessore.

A total of 3 people were injured in this incident, including the victim’s husband Milan Goldar and their baby daughter Priya (2). The injured were rescued and admitted to a clinic in Baganchra.

The accident took place in front of the Jamtala Mobil Factory in Sharsha on Navaran Satkhira Road on Sunday (May 6) afternoon.

Deceased Rita Rani is the wife of Milon Goldar of Gardkumarpur village in Padmapukur union of Shyamnagar upazila of Satkhira district.

The injured are – Milan Goldar (30), husband of deceased Rita Rani and their infant daughter and motorcyclist Asmatullah (35), son of Ruhul Kudduch Sana of Gardkumarpur village of Padmapukur union of Shyamnagar upazila.

Injured Milan Goldar said that they were going to his in-law’s house Sarsha Gorpara on a motorcycle from Shyamnagar. On the way, Baganchra reached in front of Jamtala Mobil Factory when a tractor carrying soil hit them and they fell under the wheels of the tractor. His wife died on the spot and his little daughter was injured. Later, passers-by rescued them and brought them to the hospital.

Sub-Inspector (Deputy Inspector) of Navaran Highway Police Station Mofizul Islam said that the body was recovered and the soil-carrying tractor was seized. But the driver is absconding.

He said that the case is under process.
