Education Minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury has said that an investigation will be conducted to see if any militant group is secretly operating in the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).

He made this comment in response to questions from journalists after a program organized at the International Mother Language Institute in the capital on Saturday (March 30).

The Education Minister said that a few days ago, many people complained that some militant groups were secretly conducting activities in BUET. There was such a discussion. We will investigate it more deeply.

He said that if any individual has such mentality and if it is like giving indulgence to fundamentalist and chauvinist groups, then it must be stopped and countered. That is why the law enforcement forces are there, they are investigating, the Counter Terrorism Unit will also work on the matter.

I will call on both parties including the students to take care that the education environment is not damaged, he said.
