Narsingdi’s Ibrahim Molla and Raziya Sultana have two daughters, Sathi Khan and Samantha Parvez. The elder sister, Sathi Khan, is a celebrated and beloved folk singer in the country’s music scene. The younger sister, Samantha Parvez, is a new and popular actress in the drama industry.
Both sisters learned music together in their childhood, but while Sathi continued with music, Samantha stepped away. Sathi first learned music from Ustad Kamal Siddiq in Narsingdi, then from Baul Shafi Mondol in Dhaka. Meanwhile, Samantha started working as a model in advertisements alongside her studies, but her strong interest in acting led her to connect with director Topu Khan, and she made her acting debut in his serial “Somoyer Golpo.” She later acted in Imraul Rafat’s unreleased serial “Monzil.” Samantha first gained attention through her role in Sajib Khan’s serial “Sublet Goblet.”
Sathi Khan’s first original song was “Moira Gele Kanba Thik Baiycha Thakte Bujhla Na,” written by Sheikh Nazrul and composed by Fidel Naeem. She has since released over 40 songs, with notable hits like “Ami Ek Emon Pakhi,” “Eka Thaka Shikhe Gechi Chinta Korona,” “Bonamali,” and “Shaper Chhobol.” Sathi is scheduled to perform live on SATV and Asian TV during the upcoming Eid, although she had to cancel many TV shows due to an international performance commitment.
Samantha has acted in several notable dramas, including “Maya,” “Chimti,” “Goj Fita,” and “Pochonder Jamai.” This Eid, she will appear in three dramas with Mosharraf Karim, three with Shamim Hasan Sarkar, three with Zaheer Alvi, and one with Arsh Khan. Additionally, Sathi Khan will release several new original songs for Eid.
Regarding her musical aspirations, Sathi Khan said, “Once, my dream was to perform my songs on various TV channels, which has now been fulfilled. I want my voice to be recognized as a signature tone in folk music. Just as Momtaz Apa has established a unique position in folk music and is considered a role model, I aspire to achieve such a position myself. While I am currently receiving awards for my music, I hope to one day be in a position to present such honors to others.”
Samantha Parvez commented, “I have been inspired to act by watching Mehazabien Apa. I immensely enjoy Joya Ahsan Apa’s acting. I am still very new to acting. I hope to work on such good stories that, even when I am no longer around, people will remember me through my work.”
